Two ex-Jhoots pharmacies bought by Allied Pharmacies out of administration in late 2025 have been sold to new owners, according to local media reports.

In January, Allied Pharmacies  announced it had bought all 129 stores formerly owned by the troubled pharmacy chain Jhoots through two transactions, declaring its ambition to bring these pharmacies “back to full operational capacity as quickly as possible to safeguard patient care”.

Two of these ex-Jhoots branches – one in Bridport and another in Cheltenham – have recently come under new ownership after being sold by Allied. 

The Bridport store in West Allington announced that from July 27 it was trading as an independent under the new name of Bridport Pharmacy, with Allied branding to be removed over the coming months.

The new owners told local residents: "We are an independent pharmacy committed to Bridport.

"We plan to stay long term, bringing more services and more patient care to our community.

"You'll continue to see the same friendly faces and receive the same trusted, personal care you know you can rely on.”

Meanwhile, Punchline Gloucester has revealed that a supermarket pharmacy bought by Allied Pharmacies from Jhoots was now being run by Badham Pharmacy, which operates 27 stores in the surrounding region.

The branch, which is located within the Waitrose store in Honeybourne Way, had been empty for “a lengthy period late last year and most of this year” before “briefly” being taken over by Badham Pharmacy, the local paper reported. 

Badham Pharmacy operational manager Stephen Ireland said:  "I'm pleased to confirm this will be the last change of owner for the pharmacy at Cheltenham Waitrose.

"We have purchased the pharmacy from Allied, who took many of the Jhoots branches out of pre-packed administration earlier this year."

These changes of ownership followed the news in June that Allied Pharmacies planned to close an ex-Jhoots store in the Somerset town of Minehead, with local MP Rachel Gilmour describing the closure as a “blow to the community” that reflected “the modern reality of community pharmacies”.

Allied Pharmacies has been approached for comment.
